Film Equipment For Hire

When you want authentic vintage video footage, you need Retrocams.

Our mission is to help filmmakers creatively explore classic analog video cameras in a simple, contemporary way. Based in Los Angeles, Retrocams specializes in renting rebuilt and digitally (keep?) converted vintage video cameras from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s — all from the era before HD.

We offer both professional broadcast cameras and consumer video cameras, allowing productions to achieve everything from polished network looks to unmistakable home-video aesthetics of the past. Originally designed for tape formats like U-matic, Betacam, VHS, Hi8, MiniDV, and DVCAM, each Retrocam has been converted to output a SDI or HD-SDI signal. This allows recording directly to SD cards in ProRes or Avid DNxHD codecs, combining authentic analog imagery with a reliable digital workflow.

Vintage video made easy and tape-free for today's productions. Our systems are designed to be plug-and-play, giving filmmakers the ability to easily recreate period-accurate video using the actual cameras that defined those eras.

Your footage doesn't stand a chance.

Do you want an added layer of authenticity on your Retrocam footage? Does your HD footage not look believably retro? The Degradator takes your footage, chews it up and spits out 525 lines of beautiful analog video.
